NEW PARIS, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – Elkhart County boatbuilder Smoker Craft Inc. has announced plans to invest $ 12 million to expand its business and create up to 100 jobs by the end of 2024. The builder, located in the city of New Paris, announces the construction of a 200,000 square foot addition to its existing plant, which should be fully operational by next April.

Smoker Craft claims that the expansion is the result of increasing customer demand. The company employs 770 workers in Indiana. She is currently recruiting for CNC welding stations.

“This expansion will be used to increase the efficiency of the loading process and will not only allow us to ship more boats to our dealers across North America, but also improve the quality of the product delivered,” said Tim Jones. , vice president of finance for Smoker Craft. . “The warehouse portion of the project is designed to free up manufacturing space in our three product lines: aluminum fishing boats, pontoon boats and fiberglass deck boats. “

Indiana Economic Development Corp. pledged up to $ 800,000 in various tax credits based on Smoker Craft’s job creation plans, which the company cannot claim until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs. Elkhart County Council has approved additional incentives.
